***This election notice and agenda have been approved by the Republican Party of Florida.***The Election meeting will begin promptly at 6:30 PM for the purposes of electing a new officer board for OCREC to serve a two-year term to December 2024.

Rules for the election under Florida Statute and rules promulgated and governing the Republican Party of Florida are as follows:

1. Only OCREC members may run for any of these listed offices. Only those OCREC members who are properly qualified, elected, and are current members are OCREC members and can vote in this election. No nominations can be made of non-members for offices within OCREC.
2. Anyone who wishes to run may obtain a list of OCREC member names and phone numbers, BUT NOT EMAIL ADDRESSES, from OCREC starting on November 23, 2022 by emailing Jim Ford at jford1533 @ gmail.com (Without spaces) Please, please remember it is the holiday weekend and we may be slow to respond to your request because of the holiday). Unless previously released by accident, OCREC never releases email lists to anyone EVER.
3. OCREC will forward to all OCREC members up to 2 reasonably positive emails from any candidate who so requests. Please be polite and positive, no negative attacks on others. You have other ways to do that if you wish (and hopefully you will not anyway).
4. On election night, nominations are taken from the floor. Nominations do not REQUIRE seconds but will be accepted per below. Candidates may nominate themselves.
5. The first election will be for Chairman; this is by Florida Statute and the rules promulgated by the Republican Party of Florida. Also, per Florida Statute and the rules promulgated by the Republican Party of Florida, this is required to be the first item of business. After that election for Chairman, the newly elected (or reelected) Chairman will preside over the rest of the elections.
6. Candidates for Chairman are allocated 6 minutes total to allocate as they so desire, to split up between candidate and any number of people to “second” or support, provided that only OCREC members may speak. I warn candidates, based on prior experience I have observed, to be careful about supporter speeches as these can easily eat up all the candidate’s time if not planned carefully. There will be a timekeeper.
7. Candidates for all other offices will only get 3 minutes total to allocate in the same manner. There will be a timekeeper.
8. Vote is by secret ballot. No proxies. To win, a candidate must receive 50% + 1 of total valid votes cast. If no one obtains this in round 1, there will be a runoff by the top 2 vote getters.
9. Ballots will be counted in public in a side room. Any OCREC member and/or candidate may observe.
